Voice & Vote – Women’s Place in Parliament is an exhibition originally held in Westminster Hall as a celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 which granted most men and some women the right to vote for the first time. And we are delighted to have gotten permission to host it here in Aarhus! The exhibition will be a part of our Politics and Narrative in Ireland’s Decade of Commemorations conference (October 23-25), as well as a general exhibition in Vandrehallen at Aarhus University (November 7 - November 30).
The exhibition tells the hidden ‘her-story’ in the history of the UK Parliament. Leading us through the suffragette campaigning, protests, and achievements, the exhibition explores the history of the suffrage, with an emphasis on the struggle for women’s representation in UK politics. It highlights significant individual who championed change, and includes copies of important documents from the period.
The exhibition is brought to Denmark by the CISA courtesy of PRONI and a DFAT grant.
