Location
Women's Museum, Aarhus
The workshop offers a unique opportunity to work alongside Professor McLaughlin in exploring a radically new form of capturing memories of conflict. The workshop will introduce you to the online Prisons Memory Archive, which is a collection of 175 filmed walk-and-talk recordings with people who all had a connection with prisons during the conflict in and about Northern Ireland. Beyond introducing the archive, the workshop will consist of structured activities where students engage with the recorded life stories of prison staff, prisoners, relatives, teachers, chaplains, lawyers, doctors, probation officers and maintenance workers. Finally, the workshop will facilitate a discussion of archiving as a process that gives shape to historical evidence, as well as how personal memories can be both a source and a subject for history. For more information on the archive, visit the website: prisonsmemoryarchive.com This workshop is open for all AU students but you must REGISTER for the event, by October 14, as participation is strictly limited. For registration: you cannot register via this facebook event but must write an email to Lene Trads lt@cc.au.dk including your name, discipline and student number. Time: November 3rd 2 – 4.30 PM Place: The Women’s Museum Aarhus, Domkirkeplads 5 Aarhus C. Bring: Laptops.
